Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 unbaked pie crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together sugar and cocoa powder until combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, whisking thoroughly after each addition for a smooth filling.
  4. Gradually mix in the melted butter and milk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  5. Add vanilla extract, if using, and mix well.
  6. Roll out the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Crimp or smooth the edges as desired.
  7. Pour the filling into the prepared crust, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the edges are set, and the center has a slight jiggle.
  9. Remove from the oven and cool completely to allow the filling to firm up.
  10. Slice and serve with whipped cream, powdered sugar, or fresh berries for garnish.

Notes

  • Use high-quality cocoa powder for the richest chocolate flavor.
  • Adding a pinch of salt or espresso powder enhances the chocolate depth.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Let the pie cool gradually to prevent cracking.
