Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas (firm but ripe for best texture)
- 1 tbsp coconut oil or melted butter
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar or coconut sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (adjust to taste)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Slice the bananas into even rounds, about 1/4 inch thick. Try to keep them all the same size so they cook evenly.
Step 3: In a mixing bowl, toss the banana slices with coconut oil or melted butter until all pieces are lightly coated.
Step 4: Add the sugar and ground cinnamon to the bowl. Toss everything together until the banana slices are evenly covered with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Step 5: Arrange the banana slices in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Don’t overlap them or they won’t get crispy.
Step 6: Air fry for 10-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking. The chips are done when they turn golden brown and feel crispy.
Step 7: Let the chips cool completely before eating. They’ll get crispier as they cool down.
Notes
- Use bananas that are ripe but still firm – overripe bananas will get mushy instead of crispy.
- Don’t skip the oil or butter, as it helps the cinnamon and sugar stick to the bananas.
- Keep an eye on them during the last few minutes of cooking since air fryers can vary in temperature.
- The chips should be golden but not dark brown.
