- Shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (for cheesy breadsticks)
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine the yeast, warm water, and sugar.
- Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Make the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt.
- Gradually add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until combined.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Let the Dough Rise:
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl. Cover with a damp towel.
- Allow it to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Breadsticks:
- Punch down the dough to release air bubbles. Divide it into equal portions.
- Roll each portion into long, thin breadsticks and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake the Breadsticks:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Add the Garlic Butter Topping:
- While the breadsticks are warm, brush them with melted butter mixed with garlic and salt.
- Sprinkle the prepared seasoning blend generously over the top.
- Optional Cheesy Variation:
- Before baking, sprinkle shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese on the breadsticks for a cheesy version.
Notes
- Storage: Store leftover breadsticks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheating: Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes until warm and crispy. For frozen breadsticks, thaw at room temperature before reheating.
- Dipping Sauces: Serve with marinara, ranch, garlic butter, or melted mozzarella for extra flavor.
