Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh ginger root (about 4–5 inches), peeled and chopped into small pieces
- 2 cups filtered water (for blending or juicing)
- Optional flavor enhancers:
- 1–2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (for sweetness)
- Juice of 1 lemon (for a refreshing twist)
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder or fresh turmeric (for added health benefits)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ginger
- Peel the ginger root using a spoon or vegetable peeler to remove the skin.
- Chop it into small pieces to make blending or juicing easier.
- Juicing Option
- Feed the chopped ginger pieces into a high-quality juicer.
- Collect the ginger juice in a clean container.
- Blender Method
- Combine the chopped ginger with 2 cups of filtered water in a blender.
- Blend on high speed until you get a smooth mixture.
- Strain the Juice
- Place a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth over a bowl. Pour the ginger mixture into the sieve.
- Press the pulp to extract as much juice as possible. If using cheesecloth, gather the edges and squeeze tightly.
- Customize Your Drink
- Add honey, maple syrup, or lemon juice to taste. You can also mix in turmeric for an earthy, anti-inflammatory boost.
- Serve and Enjoy
- Pour the ginger juice into a glass and serve over ice, or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Storage: Fresh ginger juice lasts 3–5 days in the fridge. For longer storage, freeze it in ice cube trays for up to 6 months.
- Concentrated Shots: Use the juice as is for a potent ginger shot. Start with 1–2 ounces per day, adjusting to your preference.
