Instructions
Preparing the Red Velvet Batter
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, buttermilk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the creamed mixture. Mix well.
- Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
Shaping and Baking the Cakes
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of batter onto the sheet, leaving space between each.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.

- In a bowl, beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

- Spread a generous amount of filling on the flat side of one cake.
- Top with another cake, flat side down, to form a sandwich. Repeat with remaining cakes.
