  • 1 tablespoon grenadine syrup
  • 12 maraschino cherries
  • Ice cubes

If you can’t find some of these ingredients, here are some substitutions:

  • Use club soda and a splash of cherry juice instead of ginger ale
  • Make your own grenadine syrup with pomegranate juice and sugar
  • Use fresh cherries instead of maraschino cherries

Instructions

1. Preparing the glass

  1. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. This will keep your drink cold and refreshing.

2. Adding the ingredients

  1. Pour 1 cup (8 oz) of cold ginger ale or lemon-lime soda over the ice.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon of grenadine syrup. Pour it slowly over the back of a spoon to create a layered effect.

3. Mixing and garnishing

  1. Gently stir the drink to mix the grenadine and soda.
  2. Drop 1-2 maraschino cherries into the glass.
