- 1 ½ cups regular milk
- 10 to 12 slices brioche bread, cut into cubes
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs, room temperature
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 can 12 oz evaporated milk
- 3 cups sliced strawberries
- 8 oz cream cheese, cut into small cubes
Vanilla Icing
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175°C and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Spread half of the brioche cubes evenly in the dish.
- Scatter the cream cheese cubes and sliced strawberries over the bread.
- Add the remaining bread cubes on top to create an even layer.
- In a large bowl, whisk eggs, granulated sugar, cinnamon, salt, vanilla extract, regular milk, evaporated milk, and melted butter until smooth.
- Pour the mixture slowly over the bread, making sure all pieces are soaked.
- Press the top gently with a spatula so the bread absorbs the liquid evenly.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for better texture.
- Bake uncovered for 45 to 50 minutes until the top is golden and the center is set.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before adding icing.
- Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth, then drizzle over the warm bake before serving.
Notes
- You can assemble the entire Strawberry French Toast Bake the night before and bake it in the morning
- Use slightly stale brioche for better absorption
- Cut cream cheese into small cubes so it distributes evenly
- For a lighter version, reduce sugar slightly without affecting texture too much
- A glass or ceramic baking dish works best for even heat distribution
